2024 Todd C. Smith Florida Student Journalist of the Year • National Student Journalist of the Year Runner-Up
About Me.
My name is Nadia Knoblauch, and I am a journalist.
My love for journalism stems from my loves for writing and for people. It all started when I took an Intro to Journalism class my freshman year of high school. After writing one sloppy story on my freshman volleyball team---which I was on, so an obvious conflict on interest---I started to grow new loves for interviewing, editing, and learning more about those around me.
I began to learn the ethics and practices of journalism through my high school newspaper, The Blueprint. After three years on staff, I served as the editor-in-chief my senior year of high school. That same academic year, I was named Florida Student Journalist of the Year and runner-up for National Student Journalist of the Year.
While I was already confident in my decision to pursue journalism or a related field in college, these recognitions affirmed my realization that writing is not simply something I like to do---it is something I have to do.
Now, I attend Barnard College of Columbia University, where I study Political Science and English. I work as a University News Deputy Editory for the Columbia Daily Spectator, the nation's second-oldest college daily, and as a Senior Editor for the Columbia Political Review.
I'm now on year six of loving journalism, and this love will only grow.
